Sewer Repair

In the past, sewer repairs required days of heavy excavation to remove the soil and expose the damaged pipe, costing the homeowner thousands of dollars and severely disrupting their daily routine. Today’s modern sewer repair solutions take advantage of advances in trenchless technology that enable us to repair the pipe underground, eliminating the need for noisy, time-consuming digging.

Because they take less time and are more efficient, trenchless repairs are as much as 50% less expensive than traditional methods. They also avoid damage to a homeowner’s carefully designed driveways, patios, and landscaping, preserving the home's appearance. It also eliminates the filled trench scarring the property after the repair is complete.

At MNS Plumbing, we begin every sewer repair project with a careful video inspection of the damaged pipes. Depending on the damage identified, we recommend the best trenchless sewer repair for the project.

If the pipe can be repaired, we will use a pipe lining method to restore the existing pipe. We insert a specialized tube coated with epoxy resin into the pipe through a built-in opening called a cleanout port and extend the tube to cover all the areas with cracks or corrosion damage.

Once the sleeve is in place, it is inflated to press the epoxy against the inside of the pipe and left in place for several hours to solidify, forming a cured-in-place pipe (CIPP). CIPP lining improves upon the original pipe, providing a smoother surface for better waste flow and resisting tree roots, rust, and corrosion for up to 50 years.

If the pipe damage is too severe for successful pipe lining, we offer pipe bursting for complete replacement while the pipe is underground. Pipe bursting works well for pipes that have warped out of shape, have major fractures or separations that have shifted, or have collapsed completely.

In this method, we insert a specialized tool into the damaged pipe that breaks up the old pipe and removes it, then we pull a replacement pipe through the emptied space, essentially laying a new pipe right in the hollow of the old one. Pipe bursting requires only two small holes, one at each end of the damaged pipe, and takes a fraction of the time of dig-and-replace methods.
